The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) hosted a Commercial Vehicle Town Hall on April 29 at the Chattahoochee Tech North Metro Campus in Acworth, welcoming nearly one hundred attendees. The event brought together industry professionals, safety advocates, and government partners to discuss commercial vehicle operations and safety.
The town hall aimed to strengthen partnerships between DDS and stakeholders in the commercial driving sector. Presentations covered best practices for commercial vehicle safety, regulatory updates, and the importance of maintaining high standards within the transportation industry.
“This town hall reinforced the strength of our partnerships with CDL stakeholders and underscored our shared commitment to highway safety. By working together and continuing to educate all motorists on safely sharing the road with commercial motor vehicles, we are making meaningful progress toward safer highways for everyone,” said DDS Commissioner Angelique B. McClendon.
Representatives from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration participated by providing information about federal safety initiatives and compliance requirements. The program also addressed human trafficking prevention, emphasizing how commercial drivers can help identify and report suspicious activity.
DDS plans to continue its engagement efforts with another CDL Town Hall scheduled for early July in Macon. The agency encourages drivers to visit dds.georgia.gov and create an online account for license status alerts.
