The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on April 10 that there will be nightly right-lane closures at the intersection of Holcomb Bridge Road westbound and Market Boulevard as part of the State Route 400 Express Lanes Project. The closures are scheduled to begin Monday, April 13, and continue through Friday, April 17, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

These lane closures are part of ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in the area. The department advises drivers to check the SR 400 Express Lanes website for updates and recommends using resources such as calling “511,” visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the “Georgia 511” app for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.

The Georgia Department of Transportation delivers transportation solutions that support economic development and benefit residents across the state, according to the official website. With about 4,000 staff members and an operating budget over $4.5 billion, it is one of the largest state transportation systems in the nation.

The agency focuses on developing and maintaining Georgia’s roadways while also supporting rail, transit, and other transportation programs according to its official website. It operates under the State Transportation Board and works with local governments as well as federal agencies to advance transportation efforts throughout Georgia.

Through these projects—including those like bridge improvements and express lanes—the department aims to promote safety and mobility across its extensive network as reported by GDOT.

The broader impact of such initiatives is seen in enhanced connectivity for residents statewide. Future updates regarding construction activities or additional lane closures will be communicated through official channels.
