The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on May 8 that temporary lane closures will take place along a section of State Route 400 as part of the ongoing Express Lanes project.
These closures are planned to allow contractors to perform roadwork activities between the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) North Springs Station in Fulton County and approximately one mile north of McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County. The department said that weather conditions may affect the schedule, and all dates, locations, and work hours are subject to change.
According to the announcement, nightly rolling left lane closures will occur on both southbound and northbound lanes from Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15. The southbound closure will extend from Shiloh Road to North Springs MARTA Station between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., while the northbound closure will run from North Springs MARTA to Shiloh Road during the same hours. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed when traveling through these work zones.
The department encourages drivers to check real-time updates on traffic conditions by calling “511,” visiting 511ga.org, or using the “Georgia 511” app before traveling. “Work schedule updates can occur due to weather or other factors, so check the SR 400 Express Lanes website for the latest updates,” according to Georgia Department of Transportation officials.
