The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has issued its weekly advisory for traffic interruptions in Southeast Georgia for the period of December 13-19. The advisory outlines planned road work and maintenance activities that may affect travel on state and federal highways in the region.

GDOT is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining Georgia’s highway infrastructure. The department also manages bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bicycle, and pedestrian programs across the state. In addition to these responsibilities, GDOT supports local governments with road maintenance.

According to GDOT, nearly 4,000 employees are dedicated to ensuring a transportation system that prioritizes innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility. The department states that its vision is “to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.”

Travelers in Southeast Georgia are advised to stay informed about ongoing projects and possible delays as GDOT continues its efforts to improve the state’s transportation network.
