The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has released its weekly traffic interruption advisory for Southeast Georgia, covering the period from January 17 to January 23, 2026.

GDOT is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining both state and federal highways in Georgia. The agency also oversees projects related to bridges, waterways, public transit, railroads, general aviation, as well as bike and pedestrian programs. In addition to these responsibilities, GDOT assists local governments with road maintenance efforts.

According to the department, it employs nearly 4,000 people who are dedicated to delivering a transportation system that emphasizes innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility. “Georgia DOT and its nearly 4,000 employees are committed to delivering a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability and mobility. The Department’s vision is to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation,” the agency stated.

This weekly advisory is part of GDOT’s ongoing effort to inform the public about potential travel disruptions and ensure that residents are aware of current projects impacting their commutes.
