The Georgia Department of Transportation announced ongoing progress along the State Route 316 corridor, with grading and roadway preparation continuing throughout the area, according to a recent construction update. Crews are conducting grading operations near Barber Creek Road bridge, interchange ramps, the north side of Bethlehem Road, and along the SR 316 inside shoulders. Improvements are also underway near Ventura Street with cul-de-sac work in progress.
Base construction for future pavement is advancing along Craft Frontage Road and SR 316 inside shoulders. Paving operations have started and will continue on portions of the SR 316 inside shoulder after removing existing pavement. Bridge construction remains a priority; at Bethlehem Road bridge, the deck was poured in late February and crews are now working on approach slabs and barrier walls. At Barber Creek Road bridge, the deck was poured in mid-February with continued work on connecting approach slabs.
Drainage improvements have been completed for a major stormwater crossing along the corridor, supporting long-term roadway performance by carrying stormwater beneath the road and enhancing stability for new travel lanes. Utility relocation efforts are active as well; overhead utility line adjustments near Barber Creek Road and Wylie McGuire Road have been finished, alongside waterline relocations that will continue along Barber Creek Road/8th Street north of SR 316.
Erosion control measures such as silt fencing, orange barrier fencing, temporary mulch, and maintenance activities remain ongoing to protect waterways and maintain orderly work areas. Traffic control measures guide drivers safely through active zones. In coming weeks, paving operations will continue for inside shoulder widening on SR 316 while preparations advance for approach slab and barrier wall construction at both bridges. Grading will proceed along SR 316, Bethlehem Road, interchange ramps, with utility relocations remaining active near Barber Creek Road.
