In March 2025, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded 11 construction contracts for transportation projects across the state, with a total value of approximately $51.15 million. The largest project involves constructing a bridge and its approaches on I-75/SR 401 over Cedar Creek Road in Bartow County, awarded to CMES, Inc. for around $23 million.

Another significant contract is for a roundabout on SR 9 at Bannister Road, affecting both Dawson and Forsyth counties, valued at $3 million. These two projects, along with another contract, account for about 54% of the total funds awarded.

Resurfacing projects represent nearly $16 million or 40% of the awards. The most extensive resurfacing effort includes nearly six miles on I-75/SR 401 in Fulton County. Another project involves over five miles on SR 14 in Fulton County, costing about $3.37 million.

The remaining funds were allocated to six safety projects, including one involving resurfacing and upgrades on New Buckeye Road in Laurens County.

These March awards contribute to a total of $1.7 billion in construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2025, which began July 1, 2024. This amount includes various types of projects such as TIA and Design-Bid-Build.

A supplemental award was made for a previously deferred project now funded at $3.9 million for resurfacing work on SR 8 in Fulton County.

Contractors interested in bidding must prequalify with Georgia DOT. More information can be found at their website.

“Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs, and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways,” according to their statement. “We’re involved in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike and pedestrian programs.” They emphasize their commitment to innovation and safety within the state’s transportation system.
