The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced upcoming maintenance work on the concrete pavement of Interstate 16 in Bibb and Twiggs Counties. The repairs will take place on both northbound and southbound lanes, covering mile markers 6 to 22. Scheduled to start on July 7, 2025, these operations will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
This maintenance effort is set to continue into the spring of 2026. During this period, lane closures will be implemented in two-mile increments along with repairs on exit ramps within the specified mile markers.
Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling through these work zones. Adjusting travel plans is recommended to minimize disruptions during these infrastructure improvements.
