The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road. The closures, intended for construction activities, are expected to impact traffic from April 18 through April 27, 2025, weather permitting.
The lane closures will occur during overnight hours. Starting from 8 p.m. on April 18 to 11 a.m. on April 19, two right lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound at I-85, one right lane on Briarcliff Road southbound at SR 42, and two left lanes on New Executive Park Drive northbound at SR 42 will be closed. Additionally, three left lanes on Children’s Driveway southbound at SR 42 will be affected.
From April 21 to April 22, lanes and intersections will also face closure, including pacing at key intersections from 9 p.m. Detours will be implemented to guide motorists around the work zones.
Further closures will take place from April 22 to April 26 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with variations in lane closures and pacing of intersections. The last of the closures will be from April 25 to April 27, between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
GDOT advises drivers to expect delays, use caution, and reduce speed in work zones. Motorists are encouraged to check the 511 Georgia website, call 511, or use the Georgia 511 app for real-time updates on traffic conditions and construction work status.
Additional information regarding the project is available on the GDOT’s official site dedicated to this interchange.
