The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 3 that a series of interstate lane and ramp closures will take place from Monday, April 6, through Saturday, April 11, as part of the ongoing 16@95 Improvement Projects. The work will include widening Interstate 16 and reconstructing the I-16/I-95 Interchange. Closures are planned for both daytime and nighttime hours at various locations along I-16, I-95, and I-516.

These closures are necessary to support construction activities such as road widening and bridge work. The department advises motorists to expect delays, exercise caution in work zones, reduce speed, stay alert for workers, and consult real-time traffic updates via Georgia NaviGAtor at www.511ga.org or by calling 511.

Daytime lane closures will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., while nighttime closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to as late as 6 a.m., depending on location. Specific ramps connecting the interstates will also be closed overnight with detours provided to guide drivers around affected areas. No more than one ramp in the I-16/I-516 Interchange will be closed at any given time to minimize disruption.

Holiday work restrictions are set from Friday night through early Monday morning; during this period no roadwork that interferes with traffic will take place.
