The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced lane closures around Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road for construction activities, subject to weather conditions. These closures are scheduled from May 9 through May 18, 2025.
Overnight closures will begin on Friday, May 9, at 8 p.m. and continue until Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. Various lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound and westbound from Buford Highway to Briarcliff Road will be affected. Additionally, there will be closures on I-85 northbound and southbound at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road.
From Monday, May 12, to Saturday, May 17, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., further lane closures will occur on I-85 northbound and southbound as well as on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road in both directions. Pacing operations will also take place at several intersections starting at 9 p.m.
Detours have been outlined for motorists traveling in the area. For instance, those traveling eastbound or westbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road towards I-85 northbound should use the I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road to access their destination.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while navigating these work zones. Real-time updates on traffic conditions can be accessed by calling the GDOT’s helpline or visiting their website.
Further details about this project can be found online through GDOT’s official site dedicated to this interchange improvement initiative.
