The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 10 that upcoming construction work for the 16@95 Improvement Projects will require intermittent lane and ramp closures on I-16, I-95, and I-516 between April 12 and May 2. The scheduled closures are necessary to allow widening activities on I-16, bridge work at the I-16/I-95 Interchange, and related improvements.

These projects are expected to impact traffic flow in both directions during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists traveling through these corridors should expect intermittent right- and left-lane closures as well as double-lane overnight closures at specific overpasses. Detours will be coordinated so that no more than one ramp is closed at a time within each interchange area, ensuring proper maintenance of traffic throughout the project period.

Advance notice has been provided for detour routes affecting ramps such as I-16 eastbound to I-516 eastbound (Exit 164), I-516 eastbound to I-16 eastbound (Exit 5), various connections between I-95 northbound or southbound with both directions of I-16, and other key ramps. The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists to follow posted detour signs during closure periods.

The Georgia Department of Transportation delivers transportation solutions that support economic development and benefit residents across the state, according to the official website. The agency employs about 4,000 staff members with an operating budget over $4.5 billion according to its official website.
