Lane Closures Scheduled for Resurfacing on SR 155/Candler Road in DeKalb County

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced lane closures on State Route 155/Candler Road for resurfacing activities. The resurfacing will occur between Interstate 20 (I-20) and SR 10/E College Avenue in DeKalb County. The project aims to improve the deteriorating roadway’s condition and provide a smoother ride for drivers.

Weather permitting, alternating single left or right lanes on SR 155/Candler Road, both northbound and southbound between Memorial Drive and E. College Avenue, will be closed on Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings. The crews will focus on lowering manholes and water valves and patching the most damaged road sections. Flaggers will guide drivers through the lane closures.

The resurfacing project is valued at $3 million and is expected to be completed by fall 2025. Motorists should anticipate delays and are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours. Real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions are available by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is tasked with planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways in Georgia.
