The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 3 that daily single lane closures will take place on Interstate 16 between mileposts 144 and 146 as part of the I-16 at Old Cuyler Interchange project. The closures are scheduled from Monday, April 6 through Saturday, April 18, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., weather permitting.

These lane closures are part of a larger initiative to improve access in Bryan County by enhancing the US 280 corridor, constructing new roundabouts, expanding roadways, and adding a new frontage road along I-16 called Genesis Drive. The project also includes building a new interchange location on I-16 to support current and future transportation needs in the area.

Officers will be present during the closure times to assist motorists. Drivers are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed while traveling through work zones. Real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions can be accessed by calling Georgia’s travel information line at 511 or visiting the official website at https://511ga.org.
