The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project, set to occur from May 16 through May 23, 2025. These closures are part of a larger effort to reconstruct the interstate system-to-system ramps and add connecting lanes and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.
Daytime closures will take place from May 16 to May 23, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., affecting I-20 Eastbound with single right or left-lane and shoulder closures at various segments. Additionally, flagging operations will be conducted on Snapfinger Road under the I-285 overpass and Miller Road between Panola Industrial Boulevard and Chatooga Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Overnight closures and traffic pacing are scheduled from May 16 to May 23, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., impacting both eastbound and westbound lanes on I-20 as well as sections of I-285 Southbound and Northbound. The Georgia DOT notes that “Memorial Day holiday work restrictions will be in place,” ensuring no road closures or traffic interference during this period.
Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until approximately September 2025, with detours in place for affected routes.
