The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on April 10 that there will be temporary lane closures and traffic shifts on the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project from April 10 through April 17. These closures are scheduled to accommodate ongoing construction work, which includes reconstructing interstate ramps and adding connecting and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.
The planned lane closures are expected to impact both daytime and overnight travel in the area. Daytime closures from Friday, April 10, through Friday, April 17, will occur between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. or until as late as 4 p.m., affecting sections of I-20 eastbound between Columbia Drive and Fairington Road, as well as local roads such as Hillandale Drive at DeKalb Medical Parkway, Miller Road over I-20, and Chupp Way at Fairington Road with flagging operations. Overnight work is scheduled from evening hours until early morning across multiple segments of both interstates.
