The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that temporary interstate lane closures are scheduled as part of the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project, beginning Friday, May 29 and continuing through Friday, June 5.

According to the advisory, weather permitting, construction partners will close lanes at various locations to facilitate reconstruction of system-to-system ramps at the interchange. The project also includes adding collector-distributor and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.

Daytime closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on I-20 eastbound between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, and Panola Road to Fairington Road. Flagging operations are planned on Hillandale Drive at DeKalb Medical Parkway and Chupp Way at Fairington Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Overnight closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes on I-20 as well as northbound and southbound lanes on I-285 near the interchange. Specific sections include single or double lane closures between Wesley Chapel Road, Panola Road, Columbia Drive, Glenwood Road, Fairington Road overpass, and related connecting lanes. A traffic shift is planned for Wednesday night into Thursday morning (June 3–4), opening a new westbound connecting lane from I-20 to I‑285 and a flyover ramp.
