The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures as part of the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. The closures, weather permitting, will affect several interstate lanes from July 11 to July 18, 2025. This project aims to reconstruct the system-to-system ramps at the interchange and add connecting and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east and I-285 north of the interchange.
Daytime closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., affecting I-20 Eastbound between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, and connecting lanes from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road. Snapfinger Road under the I-285 overpass and Miller Road between Panola Industrial Boulevard and Chatooga Drive will also have flagging operations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Overnight closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., with single to double lane closures on I-20 Eastbound between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, and connecting lanes from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road. Similar closures will occur on I-285 Southbound from Glenwood to the interchange, Northbound from Columbia Drive to the interchange, and Westbound between Panola Road and Columbia Drive.
The Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until September 2025 with a detour in place.
