The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project, weather permitting. The construction will involve reconstructing the interstate system-to-system ramps at the interchange and adding a mix of collector-distributor and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of it.
The lane closures will affect traffic from Friday, June 20, through Friday, June 27, 2025. During daytime hours, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be single right or left-lane and shoulder closures on I-20 Eastbound between Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5) and Panola Road (MM 71.3), as well as between Columbia Drive (MM 66.8) and Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5). Connecting lanes will also see similar closures.
Overnight work is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., with single to double lane closures on I-20 Eastbound in various segments including from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road, among others. Traffic pacing operations are planned during these hours.
On I-285 Southbound, lane closures are expected from the interchange to Columbia Drive between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., while Northbound traffic will face similar restrictions from Columbia Drive to the interchange.
Flagging operations will occur under the Snapfinger Road overpass and on Miller Road between Panola Industrial Boulevard and Chatooga Drive throughout this period.
The Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until approximately September 2025 as part of ongoing detour plans.
