The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced lane closures for the Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road project. These closures will occur between July 3 and July 13, 2025, impacting traffic in DeKalb County.
From July 3 to July 6, no lane closures will be implemented due to holiday restrictions. However, overnight closures are scheduled from July 7 to July 12 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Various lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound and westbound from Buford Highway to Briarcliff Road will experience pacing starting at 9 p.m. Additionally, one right lane on I-85 southbound from Clairmont Road to Lenox Road will close starting Tuesday.
Several detours have been planned during this period:
1. Motorists traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 northbound Frontage Road should use I-85 northbound, Clairmont Road, and I-85 southbound Frontage Road.
2. Those traveling on I-85 northbound to North Druid Hills Road westbound should use SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound (Exit 89 A).
3. For those heading from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound to I-85 southbound, the suggested route is via I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road.
4. Travelers on Corporate Drive aiming for I-85 southbound should follow the path through I-85 southbound Frontage Road, SR 42/North Druid Hills Road, I-85 northbound Frontage Road, and Clairmont Road.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while navigating these work zones. Real-time updates on traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511 or visiting the website at www.511ga.org.
