The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 East Interchange as part of an ongoing project. The work aims to reconstruct system-to-system ramps and add connecting lanes and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of it.
The scheduled traffic impacts will occur from Friday, June 6, through Friday, June 13, 2025. Daytime closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., affecting various sections of I-20 Eastbound. Specific areas include stretches from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road and Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road.
Overnight closures are also planned from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., with single to double lane closures expected in several locations including I-20 Eastbound from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road, and connecting lanes between the I-285 Interchange and Wesley Chapel Road.
Additional overnight closures on I-285 Southbound will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting areas such as Glenwood to the interchange. Similar measures are planned for I-285 Northbound during these hours.
For westbound traffic on I-20, alternating single left and right-lane closures will be in effect nightly from Panola Road to Wesley Chapel Road between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
“Traffic Pacing Operations” are scheduled nightly from June 6 through June 13, focusing on areas like the westbound entrance ramp from Wesley Chapel Road.
Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until approximately September 2025 due to ongoing construction activities, with detours in place for affected routes.
