The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 West Interchange project. The closures are part of efforts to install a Smart Work Zone system, which aims to enhance safety for construction workers and provide real-time traffic updates to drivers.
The project involves reconstructing and widening several interstate ramps at the interchange. Additionally, collector-distributor lanes or connecting lanes and auxiliary lanes will be added along I-20 west and I-285 north of the interchange.
Closures are scheduled nightly from Sunday, June 15, through Friday, June 20. Specific locations include:
– Six Flags Parkway: Right-lane and shoulder closure from Lee Industrial Boulevard to South Service Road between 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
– Harwell Road, Delmar Lane, Fairburn Road, Collier Drive: Similar closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
– I-20 westbound and other roads: Closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Motorists should expect delays and exercise caution in these areas. Real-time traffic information is available via phone or online resources provided by Georgia DOT.
