Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) is set to replace the Peacock Creek bridge in Liberty County, which will lead to the closure of Lewis Frasier Road/County Road 171 starting July 23. The contractor has been given permission to close the road for up to 150 days and will manage a detour using Lewis Frasier Road, US 84, and US 17. Residents can access their homes up to the work zone.
The current bridge, built in 1971 and now weight restricted, is located about five miles northwest of Riceboro. This project is part of Georgia DOT’s efforts under its Low Impact Bridge Program and Local Bridge Replacement Program aimed at helping local governments replace deficient bridges.
