On April 17, 2025, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announced planned lane and ramp closures due to the ongoing construction of the 16@95 Improvement Projects. These closures will facilitate the widening of I-16 and the reconstruction of the I-16/I-95 Interchange. The lane closures are necessary for the widening of I-16, as well as bridge work on I-95 and at the I-16/I-516 Interchange.
Daytime closures from April 22 to April 26 will occur from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with intermittent right and left lane closures on specific routes. Nighttime closures from April 21 to April 26 are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Similarly, double-lane closures on I-95 are planned during the same period.
Advance notice and detours are coordinated to avoid conflicts, ensuring proper maintenance of traffic with only one ramp closure at a time. Scheduled detours include I-16 eastbound to I-516 eastbound and westbound ramps. Long-term closures for Tremont Road under I-16 will continue until May 31, 2025.
Restrictions on closures will be enforced during the Easter weekend from April 18 to April 21, 2025, to avoid traffic interruptions.
Future closures are projected to start from April 28 through May 10, involving both daytime and nighttime schedules. Details include intermittent and continuous closures on I-16 and I-516, with detours planned accordingly.
