The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced ongoing road work across Southeast Georgia, scheduled from June 21 to June 27. The department advises motorists to anticipate traffic interruptions and exercise caution in work zones.
Weather or other factors may cause changes to the schedule. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and remain alert for workers in these areas.
Key projects include overnight lane closures on Interstate 95 at various locations, such as Camden County near the Florida state line for bridge repairs, and Liberty/Bryan Counties for asphalt resurfacing between Jones Rd. Overpass and Rail Road Bridge south of Exit 87. Other significant works involve concrete sign improvements in Bryan/Chatham Counties with nightly outside lane closures.
Interstate 16 will see single left lane closures under the Chatham Parkway Bridge for structural repairs, while Interstate 516 in Chatham County will undergo bridge maintenance requiring continuous nightly lane closures.
Several bridges will be closed for replacement or rehabilitation, including Antioch Church Rd over Surveyors Creek in Clinch County and Post Rd in Jeff Davis County. Resurfacing efforts are also planned on multiple routes, such as SR 38/SR 119 in Liberty County and SR 169 across Wayne/Appling Counties.
Motorists should expect daily lane closures due to road widening and paving operations on US 80/SR 26/Ogeechee Rd in Chatham County. A temporary traffic shift is scheduled at the US 280/SR 30 and I-16 westbound roundabout in Bryan County.
For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, GDOT encourages drivers to call their hotline at “511”, visit “511ga.org”, or download the Georgia “511” app.
The GDOT emphasizes its commitment to maintaining Georgia’s transportation infrastructure with a focus on innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility. It aims to enhance Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation initiatives.
