Georgia Department of Transportation has announced ongoing road work across Southeast Georgia, affecting traffic from July 26 to August 1. The department warns that all scheduled work may change due to weather or other unforeseen factors and advises motorists to drive cautiously through work zones.

Traffic disruptions are planned on several interstates, including I-95, I-16, and I-516. Notable projects include lane closures for maintenance and repairs in counties such as Camden, Chatham, Bryan, McIntosh, Glynn, Liberty, Candler, Emanuel, and others.

Bridge and road closures with detours are also expected in Liberty County at Lewis Frasier Road and Jeff Davis County at Post Road. Additionally, bridge construction and rehabilitation will take place on US 84/SR 38 at Doctors Creek in Long County and the Satilla River in Pierce/Ware Counties.

Resurfacing activities will affect various state routes like SR 38/SR 119 in Liberty County and SR 122 in Clinch County. Other interruptions include road widening on SR 25/Burnsed Blvd in Chatham County and a bypass project on US 1/SR 4 in Toombs County.

Motorists should anticipate delays and check real-time updates via the Georgia DOT’s resources. The department is committed to maintaining a safe transportation system across Georgia with a focus on innovation and sustainability.

“Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways,” stated the department. “We’re involved in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike and pedestrian programs.”
