The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced potential traffic impacts due to construction on the 16@95 Improvement Projects. The projects aim to widen I-16 and reconstruct the I-16/I-95 Interchange. Lane closures will be necessary for widening activities on I-16, as well as bridge work on I-95 and at the I-16/I-516 Interchange.
Daytime closures are scheduled from Monday, July 21, through Saturday, July 26, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with intermittent lane closures on sections of I-16 and I-516. Nighttime closures will occur during the same period from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., affecting similar areas.
A continuous right-lane closure is planned from Friday, July 18, through Monday, July 21, at the I-16/I-516 Interchange.
Advance notice of detours has been provided for nighttime closures from July 21 to July 26. Motorists are advised to follow designated detour routes to navigate around closed ramps and lanes.
Additionally, a long-term closure is in effect on Tremont Road under I-16 until August 31, 2025. Motorists should use alternative routes via Telfair Road and West Gwinnett Street.
The schedule for projected closures is subject to change based on weather conditions. For real-time traffic alerts and updates, visit Georgia NaviGAtor at www.511ga.org.
