The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced scheduled lane closures related to the Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road project in DeKalb County. The closures will take place from August 29 through September 7, 2025, with adjustments for holiday travel.
From Friday, August 29 at noon until Tuesday, September 2 at 9 p.m., no lane closures are planned due to holiday restrictions.
Daytime work is set for Saturday, September 6 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., when one right lane on I-85 southbound will be closed between Clairmont Road and Lenox Road.
Overnight closures will occur from Tuesday, September 2 through Friday, September 5 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. These include various lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound from Briarcliff Road to I-85, three right or left lanes on I-85 northbound and southbound from Clairmont Road to Lenox Road (ending at 5 a.m.), and one right lane on the I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound (starting Thursday and ending Friday).
Several detours will be in place during these times. For example, motorists traveling eastbound or westbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road seeking access to I-85 southbound are advised to use Buford Highway. Those heading from I-85 northbound to North Druid Hills Road westbound should utilize the I-85 northbound Frontage Road (Exit 89 B) and the I-85 southbound Frontage Road.
Motorists are encouraged to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed in work zones. GDOT recommends checking real-time traffic information by calling Georgia’s statewide traveler information system at “511,” visiting https://511ga.org/, or using the Georgia 511 app for updates.
