The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is continuing its road work projects across Southeast Georgia, with construction and maintenance activities scheduled from Saturday, June 7 through Friday, June 13. The department advises that all planned work is subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen factors.

Motorists are urged to reduce speed when traveling through work zones and remain vigilant for workers. Specific traffic interruptions have been detailed by interstates, categories, and counties.

On Interstate 95, various sections will experience lane closures for repairs and maintenance. Notably, the St. Marys River Bridge at the Florida state line in Camden County will have overnight lane closures. In Liberty/Bryan counties, asphalt resurfacing between mileposts 65 and 86.13 will necessitate nightly lane closures from 7 PM until 6 AM.

Interstate 16 also has multiple ongoing projects requiring daily shoulder closures for power cabinet installations in Laurens and Bulloch counties. Additionally, bridge jacking and structural repairs are underway on I-16 eastbound under Chatham Parkway Bridge in Chatham County.

Interstate 516 in Chatham County will see continuous nightly lane closures for bridge maintenance between Louisville Road and Tremont Road.

Several bridges are closed or have detours in place for replacement or rehabilitation work. For instance, Antioch Church Road over Surveyors Creek in Clinch County is closed until August 2025 with a detour via US routes.

Resurfacing efforts are ongoing on several state routes including SR 38/SR 119 in Liberty County where nightly lane closures occur from Sunday to Thursday.

The GDOT emphasizes the importance of expecting delays and exercising caution while driving through these areas. Real-time updates on traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511 or visiting their website at 511ga.org.

The GDOT remains committed to maintaining Georgia’s transportation infrastructure with a focus on innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility as part of its mission to enhance the state’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation initiatives.
