The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded a total of 28 projects valued at approximately $107.2 million during the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in April, with contracts awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on May 1, 2026.
According to the department, the largest single investment resurfacing project is valued at about $6.5 million and covers 6.25 miles of milling, inlay, and plant mix resurfacing on State Route 141 in Gwinnett County. This contract and 19 other resurfacing projects total approximately $66.5 million, representing 62 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest construction contract is valued at about $26.8 million for widening and reconstruction over 1.47 miles on SR 14 Spur in Troup County. This contract and three other construction projects amount to roughly $37.1 million or 34 percent of the funds awarded. The largest bridge rehabilitation contract is valued at approximately $2 million for work on I-20/SR 402 over Fairfield Place and Lawton Street in Fulton County; this contract and one other bridge rehabilitation project total about $2.8 million or three percent of the funds awarded.
For safety improvements, the largest contract is worth $535,000 for signing and pavement marking upgrades on various county roads in Decatur County; this project along with another safety initiative totals about $757,000 or one percent of overall awards.
The April awards bring total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2026—which began July 1, 2025—to around $2.2 billion including TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects; Fiscal Year 2026 will conclude June 30, 2026. Contractors and consultants interested in bidding must prequalify with Georgia DOT.
