The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded contracts for 18 projects valued at approximately $48.8 million during the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in February. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on March 6, 2026.
These awards include a resurfacing project valued at about $6.5 million, which proposes 14.28 miles of milling, inlay, plant mix resurfacing, and shoulder rehabilitation on State Route 53 in Barrow and Oconee counties. This contract and six other resurfacing projects total approximately $21.9 million, representing 45 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest construction contract is valued at around $10 million and involves 11.35 miles of concrete rehabilitation on I-20/SR 402 in Greene and Taliaferro counties. This contract, along with five other construction projects, totals about $21.7 million or 44 percent of the total funds awarded.
A bridge rehabilitation contract worth approximately $3.5 million was also announced for various locations in Forsyth and Gwinnett counties. This is the only bridge rehabilitation contract from this round of awards and represents seven percent of the total funds.
Four safety contracts totaling about $1.8 million make up the remaining four percent of funds awarded. The largest safety project is valued at roughly $782,000 and includes railroad signing and pavement marking upgrades at Central of Georgia Railroad locations across Baldwin, Jasper, Morgan, Putnam, Washington, and Wilkinson counties.
The February awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2026 to approximately $1.9 billion as listed on the official roster page. Fiscal Year 2026 began July 1, 2025 and will conclude June 30, 2026.
