The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced the awarding of three projects in April 2025. These projects are part of ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure across the state.

The first project involves a bridge culvert in Butts County, located on State Route 36 at Big Sandy Creek at Norris Creek. The contract, valued at approximately $3.1 million, was awarded to F. S. Scarbrough, LLC.

In Meriwether County, GDOT plans to replace a bridge on SR 362 (Callaway Rd) over Red Oak Creek. This project will cost around $3.4 million and has been awarded to McCoy Grading, Inc.

Additionally, a resurfacing project is set for Monroe County. This initiative includes railroad crossing safety improvements such as relocation of the crossing, installation of warning devices, and pavement marking upgrades on Rumble Road (CR 34). Ohmshiv Construction, LLC secured this contract with an estimated cost of $575,579.

Start dates for these projects have not yet been determined, and completion schedules may change.

“The Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways,” said GDOT officials. “We’re involved in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike and pedestrian programs. And we help local governments maintain their roads.”

With nearly 4,000 employees dedicated to innovation and safety in transportation systems across the state, GDOT aims to improve Georgia’s competitiveness through strategic leadership.
