The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced the awarding of three contracts for bridge replacement projects in east-central Georgia. The start dates for these projects have not yet been determined.
In Burke County, Gregory Bridge Company received a contract valued at $2.01 million to replace the bridge on Quaker Road over Beaver Dam Creek, located about seven miles northwest of Waynesboro. According to GDOT, “The new bridge will be built in place of the existing bridge to minimize right-of-way and environmental impacts. The existing bridge will be closed, and traffic will be detoured using an offsite detour. Completion is estimated for spring 2027.”
Gregory Bridge Company was also awarded a $2.04 million contract in Jenkins County to replace the bridge on West Old Savannah Road over Deep Creek, approximately ten miles west of Millen. The project details are similar: “The new bridge will be built in place of the existing bridge to minimize right-of-way and environmental impacts. The existing bridge will be closed, and traffic will be detoured using an offsite detour. Completion is estimated for spring 2027.”
In Dodge County, Griffin Grading & Concrete, LLC secured a $1.85 million contract to replace the bridge on Airport Road over Alligator Creek, about eight miles northeast of Eastman. GDOT stated, “The new bridge will be built in place of the existing bridge to minimize right-of-way and environmental impacts. The existing bridge will be closed, and traffic will be detoured using an offsite detour. Completion is estimated for spring 2027.”
These projects aim to improve infrastructure while minimizing disruption and environmental impact in their respective areas.
