The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced the opening of the new Miller Road bridge over Interstate 20 in Stonecrest, DeKalb County. The bridge, which replaces a previous structure closed in January 2025, is now open to traffic ahead of the initially projected September completion date.
According to Georgia DOT, the new bridge has been designed to be wider and longer. This expansion allows for improved access for both pedestrians and motorists and supports ongoing improvements to I-20 beneath the bridge.
Nearby roads such as Snapfinger Woods Drive, Panola Industrial Boulevard, and Minola Road remain open with normal operations. New signage and pavement markings have been installed throughout the area to assist drivers and pedestrians.
Ongoing work continues on roadways in the project corridor. Georgia DOT advises motorists to exercise caution when traveling through these areas, follow posted signs, and be prepared for occasional traffic impacts related to construction activities.
“Advisory: Exact construction dates and times may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Pay attention and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit http://www.511ga.org/ or download the Georgia 511 app.”
The department reminds travelers that real-time updates on construction status and traffic conditions are available through its 511 phone service, website (http://www.511ga.org/), or mobile app.
