The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is inviting public input on a proposed amendment to the Fiscal Year 2026 portion of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for FY 2024-2027. The STIP outlines federally funded transportation projects outside Metropolitan Transportation Organization boundaries. This amendment aims to demonstrate fiscal constraint for FY 2026 and update project phase changes since the joint approval by the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration on October 20, 2023.
In addition to seeking input on the STIP amendment, Georgia DOT is informing residents about projects awarded by the Department of Natural Resources and Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division during the FY 2025 – FY 2028 Transportation Improvement Program Midyear Update. These projects, primarily within Federal Land Management Agency units in Georgia, will be added to an appendix in the current STIP. Public comments received will be shared with project sponsors.
The comment period is open until July 31, 2025. The public is encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed amendment materials.
Georgia DOT oversees planning, construction, and maintenance of state and federal highways in Georgia. It also manages bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike, and pedestrian programs while assisting local governments with road maintenance.
