The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is seeking public input on an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2026 portion of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for 2024-2027. The STIP outlines federally funded transportation projects outside Metropolitan Transportation Organization boundaries.

This amendment aims to reaffirm fiscal constraints for FY 2026 and incorporate any project phase changes since the STIP’s approval by the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration on October 20, 2023.

In addition to the FY 2026 amendment, Georgia DOT is notifying the public about projects awarded by the Department of Natural Resources and the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division during the FY 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program Midyear Update. These projects, primarily within Federal Land Management Agency units in Georgia, will be added to an appendix of the current STIP. Public comments on these projects will be forwarded to their respective sponsors.

The comment period is open until July 31, 2025. “We encourage the public to share their thoughts on the materials located here as part of the proposed FY 2026 STIP amendment,” a Georgia DOT spokesperson said.

Georgia DOT manages state and federal highways in Georgia and is involved in various transportation programs, including bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike, and pedestrian initiatives. The department emphasizes innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility in its mission to enhance Georgia’s competitiveness through transportation leadership.
