On February 9, 2026, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced it is seeking public input on the Fiscal Year 2026–2029 Transportation Improvement Program annual update for the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division.
The department said this update outlines transportation improvements within federally managed lands in Georgia and that public feedback is encouraged as part of the planning process. The comment period is currently open and will close on February 16, 2026.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, “the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is informing the public of transportation projects awarded through the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division (EFLHD) that will be incorporated into the Informational Appendix of the current Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for reference. These projects are part of the EFLHD’s recently completed FY 2026 – 2029 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) annual update, which outlines transportation improvements within federally managed lands in Georgia.”
The department also said, “Under Title 23 U.S.C § 204, the development of a Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a federal requirement as part of the transportation planning process for all projects within Federal Lands. These projects are programmed for funding through the Federal Lands Transportation Program (FLTP), the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP), or funds managed directly by Federal Lands Management Agency (FLMA) partners.”
Georgia DOT encourages members of the public to review and comment on the updated project list located in the informational appendix on its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program website. Any comments received will be forwarded to appropriate project sponsors.
