The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on March 26 that it will introduce the new SR 400 Incident Response Unit, with a media event scheduled for March 30 in Alpharetta.
The introduction of this unit is part of an operational enhancement connected to the SR 400 Express Lanes Project. The dedicated team aims to improve safety, assist motorists, and maintain traffic flow along the busy 16-mile SR 400 corridor.
According to the announcement, the new response unit has been developed in partnership with Georgia DOT and is designed to complement—not replace—the existing statewide Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO) program’s patrols on SR 400. Media attendees at Monday’s event will have an opportunity to view vehicles used by the unit and interview key agency operations leaders including Alan Davis, Director of Operations; Jason Josey, Incident Response Programs Manager; and Kyle Collins, P3 Communications Program Manager.
The media availability will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern Time at Georgia DOT’s facility located at 800 Northpoint Parkway in Alpharetta. Directions instruct visitors to turn left into the main parking lot and follow signage for personnel location.
The Georgia Department of Transportation said it remains committed “to providing a safe, seamless, and sustainable transportation system that supports Georgia’s economy and is sensitive to both its citizens and its environment.” More information about ongoing projects can be found on their official website or social media channels.
