Jon Burns, the Georgia House Speaker, expressed his prayers for the National Guard members who were shot near the White House and condemned the act of violence against them.
“Dayle and I are praying for these guardsmen and every member of our armed forces in Washington, D.C,” said Burns. “These brave men and women are doing what they’ve been called to do—serving our country and protecting our nation’s capital. This violence cannot be tolerated.”
Two National Guard members were shot in Washington, D.C., approximately a mile from the White House. This incident prompted an immediate response from law enforcement.
