Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper announced that the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) Law Enforcement is looking for more victims in a cattle theft fraud case spanning multiple states. The investigation centers on Garrett Hill, also known as Jared Smith, who allegedly advertised cattle for sale and collected deposits through Cash App or online transfers without delivering the cattle.
Hill was apprehended by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on May 7, 2025. The GDA Law Enforcement is working closely with the FSCO Criminal Investigations Division and the Arkansas Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement to investigate these allegations.
Individuals who believe they have been scammed by Hill are urged to contact either the Georgia Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement or the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
