The State of Georgia reported an increase in net tax collections for October, with revenues reaching nearly $2.71 billion. This marks a rise of $175.9 million, or 6.9 percent, compared to the same month in fiscal year 2025, when collections were about $2.53 billion. Year-to-date figures show that net tax revenue stands at $10.88 billion, up by $240.4 million or 2.3 percent from October 2024.
In terms of individual income taxes, collections approached $1.34 billion in October, which is an increase of $78.7 million over last year’s figure of almost $1.26 billion.
The breakdown within individual income tax shows that refunds issued increased by $10.2 million (4.2 percent), while withholding payments decreased by $7.9 million (0.6 percent). Income tax return payments saw a significant jump of $82.8 million (45.7 percent) over October 2024, and estimated payments rose by $9.1 million (28.8 percent). Other categories, including S-Corp payments, contributed an additional combined increase of $4.9 million.
Gross sales and use tax collections for October totaled $1.6 billion—an increase of $89.8 million or 5.9 percent compared to the previous year’s period for FY 2025 data available at https://opb.georgia.gov/budget-information/budget-documents/archives . Net sales and use tax revenue was up by $46.1 million (6.2 percent) from last year’s total of $743.9 million for this category.
Local governments received adjusted sales tax distributions totaling $797.1 million in October—up by $49 million or 6.6 percent from the previous year’s distribution amounting to $748 million; meanwhile, sales tax refunds dropped by $5.3 million compared to FY 2025.
Corporate income taxes fell during the month: “Corporate Income Tax collections for October decreased by $8.5 million, or -12.2 percent, compared to last year, when net Corporate Tax revenues totaled nearly $69.6 million.”
Within corporate taxes specifically: “Corporate Income Tax refunds issued (net of voids) were up $30.9 million compared to October 2024,” while estimated payments increased by “$27.9 million, or 51.l percent,” but all other corporate-related payments—including returns—were down a combined “$5 .5 million.”
Motor fuel taxes also grew in October: “Motor Fuel Tax collections for the month increased by $14 .2 million , or 8 percent , compared to FY 2025 , when motor fuel tax collections totaled $177 .9 million in October.”
Collections from motor vehicle tag and title fees went up as well: they rose approximately “$8 .6 million , or 26 .6 percent,” over last year; Title ad Valorem Tax receipts climbed nearly “$7 .9 million , or 11 .8 percent,” versus the previous October.
