Georgia reports rise in net tax revenue collections for December

The State of Georgia reported net tax collections for December totaling $3.44 billion, reflecting an increase of nearly $101 million, or 3%, compared to December 2024, when the figure was almost $3.34 billion. For the fiscal year to date through December, net tax revenue collections reached nearly $16.72 billion, which is a rise of $363.7 million, or 2.2%, over the same period last year.

Individual Income Tax collections in December amounted to $1.6 billion, marking an increase of $108.7 million, or 7.3%, over fiscal year 2025’s December total of roughly $1.49 billion for the month. The main factors contributing to this growth include a decrease in Individual Income Tax refunds issued by $22.4 million (31.3%), an increase in Income Tax Withholding payments by $78.6 million (5.5%), and a combined increase in other Individual Tax categories by $16.3 million despite a drop in Individual Income Tax Return payments by $8.6 million (23%).

Gross Sales and Use Tax collections reached $1.61 billion for December, up by $39.3 million (2.5%) from the previous year’s figures for that month; Net Sales and Use Tax rose by $9 million (1.2%). Local governments received an adjusted Sales Tax distribution totaling $814.4 million—an increase of $29.6 million (3.8%)—while Sales Tax refunds increased slightly by $0.6 million.

Corporate Income Tax collections were also higher for the month at an increase of $11.9 million (1.7%) compared to last year’s total of $683.1 million for December 2024.

Key changes within Corporate Income Taxes included a reduction in refunds issued by $5.9 million (22.8%), a decrease in Corporate Income Tax Return payments by $11 million (11.9%), an increase in Estimated payments by $6.4 million (1.5%), and other Corporate Tax payments rising collectively by $10.5 million.

Motor Fuel Taxes collected during December were up by $4.9 million or 2.6% from the prior fiscal year’s receipts totaling about $186.9 million.

For Motor Vehicle-related revenues, Tag & Title Fee collections decreased by $2.5 million (7.3%), while Title ad Valorem Tax saw a decline of $4 .8 million (7 .3%) compared with FY 2025.
