Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on May 27 the upcoming Savvy Senior live event, which will be held at St. James Community Church of Alpharetta on June 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is organized in partnership with St. James Community Church of Alpharetta, SonSeekers Media LLC, and Senior Medicare Patrol to promote financial wellness and fraud prevention among seniors, families, and caregivers.
The program, titled “Senior Savvy: Empower Your Financial Wellness Journey,” will feature panel discussions on retirement planning strategies and methods for preventing fraud. Attendees will receive expert insights, resources, and practical tips designed to strengthen their financial security and confidence in managing their futures. The event is free for all Georgians, with complimentary continental breakfast provided upon registration. Organizers state that the seminar is strictly educational; no products or services will be sold.
“Financial literacy is one of the most important tools we can provide Georgians as they plan for retirement,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “We are proud to partner with community leaders and experts to bring these valuable resources and practical tools directly to the people of Alpharetta to help them make more informed financial decisions.”
Donna Lowry will moderate both panels during the seminar. The first panel focuses on “Financial Wellness” with Shardéa Ages (Founder & Principal at Ages Legacy Advisors), Tiffany Kent (Principal at Wealth Engagement LLC), and Fredrick Stanfield (Founder at Lifewater Wealth Management). The second panel addresses “Fraud Awareness,” featuring David Blake from Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services; Nathan Coflin from Senior Medicare Patrol; Shawn Conroy from Office of Attorney General Chris Carr’s Consumer Protection Division; and Anne Letcher from Georgia Secretary of State’s Securities & Charities Division.
Savvy Senior is part of a broader financial literacy initiative led by Raffensperger through the Securities and Charities divisions within his office. These seminars are offered free across Georgia with industry leaders discussing money management topics relevant for older adults.
