Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on April 30 that his office will host a “Savvy Senior” live event at The Recreation at Yonah Preserve in Cleveland, Georgia, on May 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event is organized in partnership with Legacy Link and Senior Medicare Patrol and is aimed at promoting financial wellness and fraud prevention among seniors, families, and caregivers.

The upcoming seminar will feature panel discussions focused on retirement planning strategies and methods to prevent fraud. Attendees are expected to gain insights into strengthening their financial security with practical tips from experts. The event is free for all Georgians, and registration includes a complimentary continental breakfast. Organizers stated that the session is educational only; no products or services will be sold.

“Protecting the hard-earned savings of Georgia’s seniors is a top priority for my office,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “By empowering our seniors and their families with expert financial knowledge, we are helping ensure their golden years remain secure and prosperous.”

Donna Lowry will moderate both panels during the seminar. The first panel on “Financial Wellness” features Shardéa Ages, Tiffany Kent, and Robert MacDonald discussing wealth management topics. The second panel on “Fraud Awareness” includes Nathan Coflin from Senior Medicare Patrol; Shawn Conroy from the Office of Attorney General Chris Carr; Shawn Horace from the Office of Commissioner John F. King; and Noula Zaharis from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office Securities & Charities Division.

According to the announcement, Savvy Senior seminars are part of Raffensperger’s broader effort to improve financial literacy across Georgia through free events led by industry professionals who share resources related to money management and strategies for building wealth.

The Secretary of State’s office encourages all Georgians interested in learning more about personal finance or preventing fraud to attend these workshops.
