Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on May 21 that a free FIN FIT (Financially Fit) “Fearless Fundraising for Your Small Business” event will take place on June 16 at the Cunningham Center at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.

The event is open to all Georgians and aims to provide educational resources to both veteran and civilian small business owners. Registration includes a continental breakfast and a workbook, with no products or services being sold during the program.

Raffensperger said, “Funding is the lifeblood of any new venture, but navigating the fundraising landscape can be daunting for entrepreneurs. By partnering with incredible veteran and business organizations in Columbus, we are bringing real-world capital strategies directly to our small business owners so they can grow, hire, and succeed in Georgia.”

The program will feature a panel discussion moderated by journalist Donna Lowry. Panelists include Brittany Haines, President & CEO of Growing Room Child Development Centers; Marguerite Pressley Davis, Growth-Stage CFO and Founder of Finance Savvy CEO; Greg Ray, Vice President Business Development Officer; Reginald “Reggie” Thompson from Georgia Veterans Business Outreach Center; and Phil Wise from UGA SBDC in Columbus. The second part will be a hands-on learning lab led by Davis.

FIN FIT is an ongoing financial empowerment seminar series hosted by Raffensperger as part of his office’s financial literacy efforts through its Securities and Charities divisions. These events bring together industry leaders to discuss resources aimed at increasing attendees’ knowledge about money management and wealth-building strategies.

The Secretary of State’s office encourages all interested Georgians to attend this informational event.
