Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on May 11 that the GOALS licensing system, launched six months ago, has made significant progress in modernizing professional licensing services across the state.

The update is important because it highlights efforts to reduce administrative barriers for licensed professionals and streamline processes for individuals seeking to enter or remain in regulated professions. As of May 6, GOALS supports 568,838 active licenses across 43 professional licensing boards. The system aims to provide faster and more efficient access to licensing services for Georgians.

Since its formal launch, GOALS has facilitated the renewal of 107,603 nursing licenses and 43,729 master cosmetology licenses. These numbers represent a substantial portion of Georgia’s licensed workforce. The Application Tracker feature within GOALS has also gained traction among applicants; since December 15 last year, it has been used by over 19,000 unique users with approximately 2,000 daily accesses.

“These numbers show GOALS is delivering exactly what it was designed to do – provide a faster, more transparent licensing experience for Georgians,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “We’re seeing strong performance across multiple boards, and applicants are benefiting from modernized tools that save time and improve communication.”

The Secretary of State’s office reports ongoing investments in customer service improvements such as expanded staffing and training at the call center as part of continued efforts to build on early successes at both the Macon headquarters and statewide offices.

The six-month milestone marks continued momentum toward making Georgia’s professional licensing system more efficient and accessible. Officials say these changes help hardworking residents enter the workforce sooner so they can focus on building businesses rather than dealing with paperwork.
