The Senate Study Committee on Making Georgia the No.1 State for Tourism has adopted its final report, outlining recommendations to improve Georgia’s standing as a tourism destination. The committee was chaired by Sen. Drew Echols (R–Alto) and created through Senate Resolution 323.

Over five meetings held across the state, the committee engaged with industry leaders and highlighted Georgia’s varied tourism offerings. Discussions centered on how tourism contributes to economic growth, supports small businesses, and enhances residents’ quality of life.

“It’s time we grow our tourism efforts, and it starts with supporting our hospitality employees and promoting investments into our local businesses,” said Sen. Echols. “Thank you to all the organizations that allowed us to host our meetings and showcase the incredible tourism opportunities our state has to offer. I know first-hand from my family’s farm that tourism can bring a lot into both large and small communities, and I am proud of the work we’ve done to make Georgia a leading destination.”

Committee members worked alongside stakeholders, witnesses, and members of the public to identify legislative priorities aimed at workforce development in hospitality, evaluating fiscal impacts, and improving coordination for statewide tourism initiatives.

The full report is available on the Georgia General Assembly website.

Sen. Drew Echols serves as a Governor’s Administration Floor Leader representing District 49 in Hall County.
