CJ Pearson, co-chair of the GOP Youth Advisory Council, announced that new legislation introduced by Representative Barry Moore would mandate the deportation of undocumented immigrants convicted of driving under the influence (DUI). The statement was made on X.
“Alabama Congressman Rep. Barry Moore has introduced legislation that would subject illegal aliens to DEPORTATION if found guilty of a DUI,” said Pearson. “This should have been the law a LONG time ago! You don’t get to break into our country AND recklessly endanger our citizens.”
Federal lawmakers advanced new deportation rules in June 2025 by passing the “Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act,” which requires deportation of undocumented immigrants charged or convicted of DUI, as reported by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee. This legislation follows earlier Trump-era policies and is part of a broader legislative trend linking traffic and minor criminal offenses to immigration enforcement.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a 2022 nationwide operation resulted in the arrest of approximately 175 noncitizens with multiple DUI convictions. Meanwhile, the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse reported in June 2025 that 71.7% of ICE detainees had no criminal record or were only charged with minor offenses like traffic violations. These figures highlight the scale of immigration enforcement tied to DUIs and related offenses.
The Texas Tribune reports that federal and state trends on immigration enforcement are converging, with a 2025 Senate bill advancing mandatory deportation for undocumented immigrants convicted of offenses such as shoplifting. This mirrors federal efforts seen in DUI-based deportation legislation and reflects an overall shift toward stricter criminal-linked removal policies.
Pearson is also known as the founder of the GOP Youth Advisory Council and a conservative activist focused on youth engagement, economic freedom, and strong immigration enforcement, as profiled by major media outlets. He became nationally recognized for his early support of Donald Trump and for advising party leaders on youth strategy.
