Brian Kemp, Governor of Georgia, has announced his endorsement of Republican Mack “Dutch” Guest in the House District 121 special election. Kemp highlighted Guest’s support for teachers, students, law enforcement, and transportation infrastructure.
“Mack “Dutch” Guest is a proven, conservative businessman who will support our teachers and students, stand with law enforcement, ensure Georgia continues to have the best transportation infrastructure in the nation, and keep our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Kemp. “I encourage all Georgians in House District 121 to vote early or on December 9th for Dutch Guest and keep this seat in Republican hands.”
Georgia’s House District 121, which includes parts of Clarke and Oconee counties, is preparing for a special election following the resignation of Republican Marcus Wiedower. This has created an open seat under the Gold Dome. According to Kemp, Guest is portrayed as a conservative candidate who will support educational initiatives, law enforcement, and maintain Georgia’s transportation network. Democrat Eric Gisler is also running in this election. Republicans are aiming to retain control over this suburban district by encouraging strong voter turnout for Guest.
The special election was officially called by Georgia’s secretary of state to fill the vacancy left by Wiedower’s resignation. Voters in Clarke and Oconee counties will choose a successor on a single at-large ballot. Official notices indicate that if no candidate secures a majority, a runoff will be held according to state law. This makes voter turnout operations and early voting crucial for both parties. Ballotpedia and county voter guides list Mack “Dutch” Guest IV and Eric Gisler as the only qualified candidates, providing voters with a direct choice for representation in this rapidly growing northeast Georgia district.
Guest’s campaign emphasizes his experience managing LAD Truck Lines, a logistics company based in Watkinsville that he operates with his father. He has said that this background taught him problem-solving skills and how to unite people. Guest has stressed investment in transportation corridors like Georgia 316 and pledged collaboration with law enforcement to ensure community safety. He also expressed intentions to reduce state income tax while reviewing corporate loopholes to protect family finances.
Governor Brian P. Kemp is described as a lifelong Georgian with experience as a small business owner and conservative leader. Before serving as the state’s 83rd governor, he held positions in the Georgia Senate and as secretary of state. Kemp launched his first construction business with minimal resources, an experience he says influenced his focus on job creation and reducing bureaucratic obstacles to maintain Georgia’s status as a leading state for business development.
