Recently, Lt. Governor Burt Jones appointed Sen. Greg Dolezal to the Senate Special Committee on Eliminating Georgia’s Income Tax. This appointment was announced in Atlanta on July 24, 2025.
Sen. Dolezal expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating, “I am grateful to Lt. Governor Burt Jones for appointing me to this crucial committee.” He emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to reduce Georgia’s income tax rate further, noting that while recent reductions have been made from 5.39% to 5.19%, more work is needed. “Georgia can only stay ahead if we keep pushing for a tax structure that lets families keep more of their paychecks and gives job creators every reason to grow here,” he said.
The special committee will be chaired by Sen. Blake Tillery, with other members including Senators Jason Anavitarte, Ed Harbison, Chuck Hufstetler, Steve Gooch, John F. Kennedy, Nan Orrock, Michael “Doc” Rhett, Larry Walker III, and Sam Watson.
Sen. Dolezal also serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Transportation and represents the 27th Senate District in Forsyth County.
